Corvera Golf update – February 2010

February 8th, 2010

Welcome to the first report of 2010 – just a brief update with plenty of photos.

Regarding the photos, I have concentrated on the completed areas, and those areas that are showing very nice signs of growth and maturity. I spent some time with new owner Jay Brown who was visiting with his son Dominic. They were both pretty pleased with what they saw, and actually commentated that my regular photos did not do the place justice! Sounds like my old teacher, “Stuart tries hard, but could do better”.

I was able to take some great scenery shots from inside a couple of apartments and despite all the delays, I still maintain there is great potential at Corvera and the views are just tremendous.

I’m afraid there was no work going on at the Clubhouse. I have heard that completion is now due towards the end of the Summer, but I have had no official confirmation of that.

The areas around the latest part of the resort are now completed. I am referring to the Magnolia villa’s and the Menta apartments, where it all looks great! I have noticed a few people moving in. New owners Frank and Linda Fraser from just outside Edinburgh are delighted with their property, they have just completed the purchase of their Menta penthouse apartment and are in the process of furnishing it, they both love it and can not wait to come back in March to start to enjoy their new home in the sun.

The Phase 3 apartments on the hill have not been worked on since before Christmas and again I have had no official confirmation of anything here, but definitely no work going on there for now.

I am constantly being asked about the Phase 3 properties near the entrance roundabout. There is still no sign of any work here, and this is obviously a great cause for concern.

Should anybody have any enquiries about these Phase 3 properties, please feel free to call me on 00 34 680 842 895 or e-mail me directly to discuss your options.

The golf course was open with a few owners enjoying the lovely sunny weather. Obviously there is still lots of work required here, but the greens and t-boxes all in great shape. I do wish those playing at present would remember to repair their pitch marks, it can only be the owners not doing so at present, as they are the only ones playing.

On a more positive note the new international airport at Corvera is absolutely flying along, loads of work being carried out with dozens of workers on site and lots of trucks, cranes, etc all working, so that has to be excellent news, final funding was approved and made available well before Christmas to complete the work on the new airport, so as previously reported here, construction should be completed by early next year at the latest, watch this space for more information!

That is about it for now, should anybody need any help or assistance please do not hesitate to get in touch, we are very busy at present helping people with their mortgages and furniture requirements, if we can be of any assistance do not hesitate to contact us.

Good luck to everybody for 2010.

Thanks for the update Stuart, always good to see how work is progressing. Bit concerned that the clubhouse has been delayed again, and work on phase 3 seems to have ground to a halt though.

Thanks for up date.I am just back from a couple of days in Corvera.
Played the course twice-Greens are in great condition-and I feel the course itself will mature into an excellent course. If you play to uour handicap you will be doing well.
The overall complex is looking very well and my friends were very impressed by the overall layout.Like all owners i would like to see more progress re the clubhouse-hopefully at the A.G.M. this issue will be clarified.

I am phase 1 completed customer, July 09 with my 3 bed apartment. the golf course is coming on nicely. The golf info site is invaluable to existing and prospective clients.

However, a few questions arise :

why does the http://www.corveragolf.com website never get updated and provide news for customers? (instead, people are forced to rely on Stuart’s info site).

why does no one know anything about a firm timetable for the clubhouse completion ? whats the problem here ? surely not a shortage of labour in the recession, perhaps a shortfall in cash !

doesn’t calidona realise that if basic site facilities, such as commercial centre, clubhouse, eating, etc., etc., aren’t making progress, then why would any one new sign up as a customer ?

why is phase 3 at a complete standstill ? if calidona has taken the deposits from customers, they should honour their commitment !

The standstill at Phase 3 is a great concern.
I have requested by email from Corvera sight of the granted License (which they say they have), to date 1 have sent 5 emails and made 3 telephone calls requesting this and to date still do not know the date the License was granted. Does anyone know??

    Hello Stuart
I am very concerned that work on Phase 3 has stopped along with the Clubhouse. Also the main web site of Calidona shows no update since october 2009.
I am sorry to say but Photo’s showing certain chosen area’s of Corvera are very nice and I have previously praised your work to date.
However the current news is serious and requires urgent attention by every one connected with Corvera.
Calidona should provide a new’s update confirming all development work and time schedules for site completion.
The real reason for the stoppage of work with the clubhouse and if there are cash flow problems temporary or long term.
Honesty is now the best policy not silence and no customer care. I will visit Corvera in a couple of week’s if anyone would like to contact me on davidcbond007@yahoo .co.uk

    Hi Dave and Linda,
I agree entirely with your comments, as an owner myself I have all the same concerns.
Please remember I am independent of Corvera, I provide these updates and a few photos simply to try to keep some information flowing and to make people aware that it is not all bad news.
The issues you raise can only be answered by Corvera Golf themselves, Please also note I have no influence as to when they update their own web site and I certainly have no idea of their financial situation.
I will continue to provide the photos and any news I hear I will do my best to post it here as quickly as possible.
    Regards Stuart Thomas

Thanks for the update Stuart, i find this really useful.

I checked with Corvera and they have confirmed that the Club House will not be built until Q4 2010 and is unlikely to open until Q1 2011 – this is due to the time it takes to get the habitation certificate. I am fine with it as long as they complete to the standard we expect.

Thanks for all your updates a life line for those of us who haven’t been able to get over much.

Having just returned from a week in Corvera, i have been assured that the clubhouse will be completed at the end of Q3 this year, ie September, but would have thought that there would need to be far more activity at the moment for that to be a possibility.
The lack of general building work is obvious and some detailed info needs to be delivered by Calidona in the very near future.
There have been plenty of occasions, during the past 4 years where i have doubted the progress and info supplied, but here we are with an excellent development NEARLY there.
In order to develop a commercial model that would include the public paying green fees and bringing business to the site, the facilities that are required will need to match Roda or it will not be viable.
Having said that, the work that has been done is super and the course design, layout and space is first class. It needs a year or two of typical Spanish growth to be talked about in positive fashion, but uncertainty is not acceptable in the current climate.
Thanks Stuart for the feedback and photos

    hi
one of my main concerns when last away was seemed a lack of maintenance around site ie manholes ot fitting properly, broken fence lying on ground waiting to be fixed ,i agree just little things ,but unsightly and shows lack of care and basic maintenance at this early stage.
    cheers eric
