Corvera Golf and Country Club – Report March 2010

March 16th, 2010

Welcome to the March update for the Number one information web site for Corvera Golf and Country Club.

Playing the course

Firstly – at long last I have played the golf course! The greens are fantastic and the tee boxes are nearly ready, in good condition, and they just need about three months of sun with some rain and I think they will be complete. The fairways are some way from being perfect, I would say about 6-9 months will get them there. However, they are still very playable and certainly better than most “snowed off fairways” back in the UK! The good news is that there are greens staff working everywhere on the course.

I played off the white tee boxes as I heard the yellow tees were not much of a challenge – well I will be playing off the yellow tees next time! I found the challenge to be pretty tricky and very long, a really great day out. I played with new owners Gareth and Jackie Summerton and it was Gareth playing off a handicap of 6 that won the day.

Construction continuing

I bumped in to several owners walking around the development. Quite a few people having moved in now, so it was good to see a few people about. The only thing missing for now is some life breathed in to the place. Please also remember it has been winter, the weather has been pretty poor really, and only now people are starting to furnish their properties and actually stay on site. So it was great to see owners about. It could well be a busy summer at Corvera!

The café bar on site is now busy every time I go there, and it’s good to see a good mix of nationalities present and a few different languages being spoken. You always get a good welcome here and a wide range of snacks and refreshments awaits you.

The equestrian centre is now well under construction. There are horses on site and it should be ready by the start of Summer. This is quite a big area currently under active development and good to see this much advertised facility being worked on. Some of the photos below will hopefully give you some idea of progress.

Airport

The airport at Corvera is still continuing to grow with some of the infrastructure for the terminal buildings now well under construction, please follow this link for further information, Corvera Airport

Meeting some happy owners!

Happy Corvera owners!
Happy Corvera owners!

I have been very busy of late helping Phase 3 owners swap their deposits to properties that have been completed on Phases 1 and 2. I have been liaising with the developer to identify suitable properties for these lucky people, and trying to get them the right price! We have quite a few very happy clients now I am very pleased to say. Corvera clients who were upset and worried about their proposed properties who are now very happy indeed.

One such couple is Stephen and Jacquie Wragg from Tamworth, who kindly posed for some photos on the 18th fairway with their property in the background. They had this to say:

“Thank you Stuart for all your help, we have been having many a sleepless night and wondered if we would ever see our new property! With your help and expert advice, we are very happy to proceed to the completion of our property at last. You have found us a fantastic property and at a great price, we would also like to thank Pablo Buitrago at Corvera for his patience and understanding of our situation, We are now every happy indeed and can not wait to complete our purchase”

Another couple who have returned to the UK very happy indeed are Phil and Wendy Webber from Cardiff who had this to say:

“We would just like to give our thanks to Stuart Thomas of Calida International Properties. Firstly, if we had not stumbled upon his web site www.corveragolfinfo.com with its great information about Corvera with all the photos and updates, we would have still been in the dark about any progress at Corvera. Through this web site we made contact with Stuart and went over to see him last weekend in Spain. As a phase 3 buyer at Corvera we were becoming increasingly concerned about our purchase. We discussed the options with Stuart and on taking his advice decided to swap into phase 2. We are now the proud owners of a fantastic front line property and very much relieved. Stuart’s advice and ongoing support has been invaluable. We are looking forward to completing and spending our first week there. Thanks again Stuart. We strongly recommend anybody with concerns getting in touch with Stuart”

Here to help

Swapping deposits from phase 3 properties (not built yet) to properties that are available now is obviously not right for everybody, I can only offer advice and offer my opinion on each individuals own circumstances. However if this option is something you might be interested in discussing, please feel free to make contact, many clients are taking up this option which is great news for the resort as there will be fewer properties available. I am always available directly on 00 34 680 842 895 or via email on info@calidainternationalproperties.com

I know there are many people, from various phases, exploring all options available and considering legal action for various reasons and I do wish you all well. I do recognise these are very worrying times, but it is great news that people are still enthusiastic about Corvera Golf and Country Club and that they are excited about owning their new home in the sun.

The Clubhouse

There has been no construction work on the clubhouse since the last update I am sorry to say,
however I am assured that construction will commence very soon and will be finished this year,
please see this link for our previous report on the Covera Clubhouse to give you some idea of how it will look when it’s finished.

Like everything the clubhouse is now well overdue, but hopefully it will be worth the wait. Rest assured that as soon as construction begins we will report it here with plenty of photos! We remember when the Roda Clubhouse opened nearly two years ago, of course we were there first with a full report and gallery. That day will come here on Corvera – something to
look forward to!

A word of caution

A word of caution. There are a few companies out there who have managed to get hold of a Corvera owners database. This database has most likely come from former employees of MRI or MacAnthony Realty International, please beware of these company’s trying to sell you Furniture Packs, offering Mortgage products, Property Management services and especially Rental services. They often ask for an “up front” fee and very rarely if ever deliver the service promised and that you have paid for. If you are in any doubt, please don’t work with these people and please never part with any money up front.

The same goes for Real Estate companies charging a fee to market your property for sale, we should all only be paid if we achieve the results for our clients, not one penny should be paid before that!

The sun is back!

Finally, the warmer weather seems to be upon us after a real cold snap this last few weeks. Spring is definitely here and I can not wait to have my next game of golf at Corvera! If anybody fancies a game, please just drop me an email and I would love to join up, maybe play for a beer? Now that definitely sounds like a plan.

A small update, a question responded too, and Merry Xmas!!

December 18th, 2009

Well here we are again, Christmas just around the corner and WOW, what a twelve months! Some huge progress at Corvera this year (not before time I hear you say). The golf course is now open, to owners only, but the golf course officially opens mid January, which is excellent news.

Some 300/350 owners now completed their purchase and I think most people are delighted with what they have purchased, some issues but generally people seem pretty happy.

January it all starts again with completions scheduled for the Magnolia villas and the Menta apartments, if anybody needs any help, please contact us and we will do our best to help you through the process.

I hope you have enjoyed the updates this year and the regular photos. I have done my best to keep everybody updated as best as possible, it has not always been easy, it is fair to say it has been a tough year all round, but for the most part things seem to be improving generally.

Some excellent news regarding the construction of Corvera International airport (as we last talked about here). As reported in all the local and national press two weeks ago, the construction company at Corvera have just been awarded 200 million euros to complete the construction of the airport and work is expected to be completed towards the end of 2010 or early 2011, but just about 12 months from now, watch this space but we will keep you updated as best as possible.

No photos this time. We are going to provide lots more in the January update, but not a great deal happened since the last report.

I have deliberately tried to keep things positive on this web site, and reported as honestly as possible, but I make no apologies for putting a positive slant on things. There are enough forums out there constantly reporting bad news and making negative remarks and comments, I just thought owners might prefer to read positive information regarding their considerable investments at Corvera.

Recently I have received some criticism for inaccurate reporting on Corvera, to be honest I do tend to suppress the negative posts on this web site…although there really are not many. Please remember this is not a web forum, it is simply an information web site.

One gentleman recently expressed his disatisfaction with my reports, and he stated that his comments would not be posted. However, I would like to address some of the points he raised. His original comment is below and my response follows it.

Original comment

“Not sure you have visited the same Corvera site. The mini market is a portacabin and can no way be deemed a mini market and breaches UK health and safety. Not also sure how you got buggies from the pro-shop when one does not exist and the corvera staff advised that no such facilities will be available for months.Did they pay you to publish such a “flattering” article? Come on, write reality and in a balanced way opposed to pure fiction. I suspect this comment will not be posted”

My Response

Thank you for your e-mail, your comments are noted and appreciated and as you can see posted!

Obviously everybody has their own opinion and I respect all of them. The reason for the web site www.corveragolfinfo.com in the first instance was to try to provide some much needed information regarding the resort which no other agents or the developer themselves were providing, certainly not on a regular basis.

I provide regular updates regarding progress, and regular photos of resort and the golf course. The vast majority of visitors to the web site appreciate my efforts and comment to that effect every time I produce a new update.

I do offer my own opinions, and yes, I always try to put a positive slant on the situation which may well differ from your own, or that of others.

There is a place on site at Corvera where owners can at least buy a loaf of bread, some fresh milk and some tea and coffee, etc, that is the only point I was making regarding the mini market, you can also buy some snacks and hot and cold drinks, that is more than Roda owners had initially which is why I point it out.

Regarding UK health and safety, that does not apply outside of the UK so no point really mentioning it, Spain is different and for many people that is why they come here.

There are buggies available and I did borrow one, if you would like to meet me at Corvera, I would be very happy to give you a ride around the golf course and give you a hole by hole guide of the course, which incidentally is very nice and will be a real challenge off the white tee boxes for everybody.

Whilst I may be a little too positive at times, I do not lie, if I say I borrowed a buggy from Corvera, please assume that is the case.

I am not paid to produce this web site or any particular article, I do it all at my own expense to offer assistance and guidance to those people who have been abandoned by their original agent, I suspect you may fall in to this category of owners.

I am sorry that you seem disillusioned with the development as it stands. I can understand why you feel like this, however for my clients I have to try to offer as much information and positive advice as possible. I see no point in publishing negative articles, that will achieve nothing and in my opinion only make things worse.

My web site is not a community forum where anybody can simply post whatever comments they like, it is an information web site. I have taken your comments on board and I will do my best to provide a more balanced view in future.

There are a number of other web forums out there where you can vent your frustrations regarding Corvera, but please understand the only reason I produce this web site is a customer service to Corvera owners. I have helped a number of clients purchase homes here (the vast majority of which are happy) and I just want to keep them updated.

I do not work for Corvera, I am not in their employ in any shape or form, however for the moment I do have a very good working relationship with them and that does benefit a lot of people, hopefully that will remain the case.

If you feel my updates or any of my comments are misleading then I certainly apologise. However I make no apology for trying to help people who are left entirely in the dark regarding their properties, and for doing so completely at my own expense.

Thanks again for your comments, if I can offer any assistance in future please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Best Regards,

Stuart Thomas
Calida International Properties

The only thing left for me to say is I would like to wish everybody a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous new year, let us all hope for a better 2010, fingers crossed.

Next update in January with lots of great photos.

Best wishes,

Stuart

Corvera Golf and Country Club – Report September 2009

    September 16th, 2009

I hope you have all enjoyed the summer. I know the weather has been poor in the UK and Ireland, however I am also aware a lot of our regular visitors to this web site have been to Corvera this summer to enjoy the fabulous weather we usually enjoy here in Murcia. It was also great to meet a lot of you in person for the first time.

Many people have now completed the purchase of their property at Corvera, and I am very pleased to report that there have been many positive comments and many, many happy owners. Congratulations to everybody who has completed their purchase of their property at Corvera!

I walked a large part of the golf course this week, and I was amazed at how much it has come along since my last visit. I’m sure the golf course will be open this year and I am looking forward to playing the course myself. I hit some great shots on the driving range as well so obviously I am very happy. Talking to the green keepers – they are all confident of hitting their target of opening this year so excellent news.

Phase 3 owners will be pleased to know that work has commenced on phase 3. Not a huge amount of work at present – three cranes and a couple of earth movers – but progress is good, and they have started, and what a fantastic location! A very elevated position with amazing views across the whole resort, and with a South West orientation for most properties. This is going to be a very desirable location once completed.

I have taken some photos of the road leading up to the main entrance. This road is now open, so the whole avenue up to the roundabout before you turn right in to the resort looks great. I hope you agree. First impressions count, and the first impression driving up this road is wow!!

The golf clubhouse is now well under construction with lots of activity in this area. Also lots of work is going on around the greens and in the bunkers. They are already putting finishing touches all over the course, more and more trees have been planted, and it really does look like a golf course at last, I just can’t wait to play it!

I won’t mention any names, however I took some friends to Corvera this week to get their opinions on the resort, These friends all own property in Spain, but not at Corvera, and they have never been there before. They thought the development was great, the location fantastic, and they all agreed that there is massive potential. They agreed all amenities are essential, but what they did view they loved, I just thought I would pass that on.

I have taken quite a few photos of the Menta apartments and the Magnolia bungalows. This area is looking fantastic now with green areas maturing, swimming pools now in, and the Magnolias are looking superb and close to completion. I reckon by next month (October) we may well be close to some owners moving in. The whole area looks great and there are some fabulous views from this area as well.

The Menta apartments, and that general area in the South Island, are looking great. There is so much work and activity there that I think that this whole area will be complete within the next couple of months. I love the colour as well, I have had a number of requests for photos of this area so I hope you enjoy these.

As usual the overall impression is very good, loads of progress, all very exciting and looking great, I hope you enjoy this latest update and photos and I will be back in about 4-5 weeks with the next update.

We are currently very busy assisting clients with their completion requirements, If anybody needs help with any aspect of the completion process including mortgage requirements, property management and rentals services, snagging and “deep cleans” or even furnishing your property, please get in touch by emailing us directly or calling (00 34) 680 842 895 any time.

Corvera Going Green! Our July/August Report

    July 30th, 2009

Firstly I would like to say that we do feel a little bit of sympathy for everybody suffering in the UK and Ireland with the terrible weather over the last few weeks. We watch the weather forecasts with mild amusement as we “bask” in 40 degree temperatures. The bad weather back home might also be the reason why we are currently experiencing record numbers of visitors to this beautiful region of Murcia – Roda Golf is almost full to capacity!

    Driving range now open!

On to Corvera, we have some great photos of the new driving range and the PGA academy which is now open. The fantastic facilities include dozens of practice bays for the driving range, PGA training and instruction areas, many putting greens and pitching areas as well as PGA offices and rest room facilities. We were also very grateful for the vending machines with temperatures hitting 44 degrees whilst we were there!

The facilities all look amazing. It has been a “long haul” to get to this point. I know I keep saying it, but it was certainly worth the wait. It looks great and I am certain you will all agree when you visit – which I hope will be soon.

There is only so much I can say about the progress at Corvera but it is significant I promise you. The entrance with barriers DOWN is impressive – with the security guard resembling Mike Tyson looking for a snack, security is tight which is excellent news and further proof of the exclusivity of this resort.

Come and stay at Corvera! Now!

Clients are now moving in and we have our first properties fully furnished (by ourselves) ready for rental, so if anybody needs accommodation when they are over to complete the purchase of their property, we are now able to accommodate you on Corvera itself – yes that is right – we are up and running with our first properties available for rent.

I am happy to report that despite the “doom and gloom” and the recession, approximately 30 – 35 owners per week are completing the purchase of their property at Corvera and that is official and Calida International Properties are helping a large part of these. Not a single resort in Spain can boast those numbers, maybe not anywhere.

The golf course is going green! We can also report that all the greens are now immaculate. The golf course is well on track and as per our previous update, and the sports facilities are ready for use.

All the gardens are maturing, and it never ceases to amaze me how much attention to detail there is both inside and outside the resort. The entrance road in and the entrance itself is as impressive as I have seen and getting better by the day. Day by day the cranes are moving out and the owners are moving in.

    South Island

The South Island has shown dramatic improvement over the last six weeks with the Magnolia villas all painted and very close to completion. There is still some major work to be completed with the gardens and swimming pools yet to be constructed, but the Christmas deadline looks easily achievable. We have taken some photos of the Magnolia’s, however it was very busy with construction vehicles so we could not stay too long, we hope you can see your property!

The Menta apartments are really taking shape and they have also been painted different neutral colours and they look very impressive, I reckon 6 months and the South island will be close to completion.

    Phase 3

Still no news on phase 3 I am afraid, however as soon as we get something positive we will be the first to announce it I guarantee you. Please stick with it phase 3 owners! When you see the resort you will be very excited, if you do have any concerns, please contact Corvera Golf themselves, or we will be happy to help in any way we can.

    Your kind comments

Finally, we have had some great comments about the resort and some individual properties from owners themselves who also had some very nice things to say about us as well so I could not resist passing these comments on to you all. Please see what these two owners had to say below, and we hope you enjoy this latest update and the usual batch of photos.

We have been very busy helping clients through the completion process from arranging the mortgage, to snagging, cleaning and ultimately helping to furnish our clients properties. Two very happy clients are John and Amanda Anderton from Norwich, here is what they had to say:

“We recently visited our new property at Corvera and saw the inside for the very first time. After all the delays of the last two years, how lovely to be able to say that we were stunned with the overall impression of our Canela villa!

The layout, design features and general quality of finish exceeded our expectations…and we are fussy!! There is far more storage space than we had feared might be the case as well

Also, important to mention, the help and advice we have received from Stuart Thomas of Calida International Properties has been invaluable. His expert knowledge of the Corvera and Roda developments, and his excellent network of contacts for all required services, has enabled us to progress the completion of our property with a degree of reassurance we could not have dreamed of a few months ago. A very professional and friendly service – highly recommended!

Although our property is still not completely finished, we have seen enough to convince us that this will be a lovely second home and a very good investment. Let’s hope Corvera finish the golf course, club house and other facilities to the same high standard to complete a great resort for all owners and guests to enjoy in these beautiful surroundings”

Brothers Darren and Lee Williams, Company Directors from South Wales also had this to say:

“we purchased our ground floor property over 3 years ago and we have been a little apprehensive after all this time as to whether Calidona would in fact deliver on their original promise regarding our property and the resort generally, well we have been very pleasantly surprised, the whole development looks very classy and we are very impressed with our apartment which is very spacious with great views.

We have just completed the purchase of our property and thanks to Stuart Thomas of Calida International Properties everything went without a hitch, his expertise was very useful and his assistance has been invaluable, nothing has been too much trouble for him and his team as they have “held our hand” through the whole process, Stuart’s mortgage advisor Henry Slade has also been excellent and managed to find us the mortgage we were struggling to get and we would like to say a big thank you to him.

Finally we would just like to say thank you Stuart for the regular updates and photos on your web site, without which we might have succumbed to despair a long time ago, thanks again Stuart and we look forward to working with you for years to come”

    Corvera Golf – Full report April/May 2009!

    May 15th, 2009

    Entrance roads nearly completed
    Entrance roads nearly completed

Many apologies for being late with this the April / May update and photos! We have been very busy helping people prepare for their new property at Corvera as well as continuing to look after our Roda Golf clients. On the subject of Roda Golf (www.rodagolfinfo.com), phase 4 is well under way and the new sports facilities have finally started, as I keep saying, things might be happening a little too slow for us, but they do get done and to the highest standard, please consider this when wondering, and worrying, about Corvera.

Anyway… on to Corvera Golf and Country Club! We are being asked a lot about phase 3. People are concerned about the building licenses, and when the building will start. Well the good news is that the phase 3 building licence’s are expected to be issued within the next few weeks and building will commence on that phase straight away – yes you have heard it before, but I do think phase 3 is about to start before the Summer, the developer is getting ready to press on with it and they are as anxious as you to get it all under way, watch this space!!

Now then, on to all you lucky people who are due to complete, it just gets better and better, the new road to the airport outside the resort really is well under construction, the entrance to Corvera is almost ready and will be in use within three or four weeks, the mail box area is all ready and the communal gardens to the left as you go through the main entrance are now looking wonderful, the children’s play areas with the communal gardens and all the new plants and shrubs looks fantastic. Our car was covered in dust from the massive construction vehicles at work on the access road, and workers were in evidence busily working on the entrance and finishing off at the post box areas.

We counted about 450 ornamental benches that are currently being installed throughout the resort in the communal areas. We were also amazed at the sheer amount of plants and shrubs now bedding in! All of the plants at Corvera are from the local area, so there will be no question of them not being able to survive and they will require very little maintenance.

The PGA driving range and academy are almost complete and the driving range is already very green and lush, you will hopefully see this on the photos that accompany this report, the news is that the PGA golf academy will be open in June and again it looks fantastic. There was so much work going on at the driving range that we were not allowed any closer, but seeing the green grass in the centre of the development was a heart-warming sight!

Speaking of “green” – the golf course is currently being seeded and by the end of May the whole golf course should have been seeded and will be green by the end of July, then we will be getting really excited! There are vast bags of seeds in evidence around the site. The golf course should be available to play by the end of 2009, but I for one will not want it to open before it is good and ready, the back 9 at Roda was opened early due to pressure, and they are still repairing it, so please be just a little more patient – not long now!

The lakes on the golf course are now completely full and really do look daunting from a golfers perspective, the views across the lakes from the majority of phase 1 and 2 properties are fantastic.

A lot of the apartments have now had the name and number plates fitted to the outside of the properties, which means they really are ready for occupation. I was lucky enough to visit a few of the properties, and walk through them, and check them out first hand. Every single one of the rooms I walked through was light and airy with great views. Some will obviously be better than others, but with the patio doors opening right up, it really does bring the outside in – or is it the inside out!? I was very pleased with everything I saw. The ground floor Tilo style properties had amazing terraces and private gardens and a couple of the “frontline” properties had breathtaking views of the golf course and the mountains – I have one of these, so I was very pleased – very pleased indeed!!

Not too much more I can say, just a huge amount of progress from my last visit, much the same as my last report. I hope the pictures will speak for themselves! I would like to add that things are moving on at a great pace, and with a lot of abandoned developments around the world, it really is encouraging that Calidona have men (and women) working around the clock to deliver this fantastic resort that keeps getting better and better!

I am aware that this is a tough time for a lot of people and I do not say that lightly. If you can just hang in there I have no doubt that this will be the golf resort that everybody wants to own property on just a couple of years from now. As we drove around the resort we remarked again and again that this is truly set to be the premier golf resort in Spain, and surely one of the finest golf resorts in Europe. Yet again its big thumbs up for Corvera Golf and Country Club, I hope you enjoy the photos and you find this latest update interesting, I hope it was worth waiting for, and the next report will show A GOLF COURSE!!

If you need any help with your completion of your property at Corvera please just get in touch.

Please leave your comments below as all feedback is greatly appreciated.

PS We also have some big “panoramic” shots that our photographer is assembling now, they should be with you this week!

Inspection trip – Corvera Golf development Feburary 2009!

    February 12th, 2009

Hi everybody, welcome to the latest update on Corvera Golf and Country Club, we hope you are continuing to enjoy this free information web site on Spain’s soon to be newest luxury golf resort!

We have more great news, and up to date photos of Corvera – however a small apology – it was a little hazardous on the resort this week! There were about 600 workers, dozens of trucks, lorries, diggers, etc. everywhere, all good news, however it has prevented us from getting all the photos we wanted to get. We have also had a number of requests for photos and we really have done our best, but limited photos this month, so many apologies if we have missed your property or your particular area, but we will do better next month we promise!

We are sure that you will enjoy them, we have managed to get photos of the North island which is very close to completion and we have some exciting news about phase 3. Also the properties up near the location for the hotel (which will be built) are completed, and look absolutely sensational.

You will see from some of the photos that they are now laying the tarmac in some areas. Yet again hundreds of additional trees are being planted around the resort and on the golf course. Also the boundary fence is being erected all over the resort, yes we can actually call it a resort now, it has progressed from a mere building site and it is all really taking shape!

Regarding phase 3, we have been reliably informed that the licences for phase 3 will be issued very soon and work should commence in the next couple of months. Completion date for phase 3 is approximately June/July 2010. This might not suit some people, however all the infrastructure for phase 3 is in place, all roads, pavement, paths and street lighting, and by the time your property is ready on phase 3, you will have all amenities, a fantastic championship golf course, a PGA golf academy, an international airport just around the corner, and a golf course and resort with a growing reputation!

Not just that! The views from phase 3 will be breath taking, simply superb, no other words for it, also from this location looking back to the sales office in the distance, you really do start to get a sense of the sheer vastness of Corvera Golf and Country Club, owners up here are in for a real treat, well worth the wait.

Now you all know that we are huge fans of Corvera Golf and Country Club, and as such we may appear a little biased, well we feel when you all see and experience what we experience every time we go there, you will feel exactly the same, Corvera is “head and shoulders” better than any other resort in the region, maybe Spain, yes it is fair to say “we love it”!

We would like to thank the staff at Corvera for allowing these visits and for providing as much help and assistance as they do, as well as doing their best to answer our questions which we ask on your behalf, it really is much appreciated.

It was reported in the local press that Jose Maria Olazabal has actually played the golf course, he has had a round of golf with some of the directors at Corvera, now we know the course is not ready, but they completed the 18 hole course testing the hazards and looking to add additional features, the word is that Jose Maria was very pleased with the progress of the golf course.

We have said it before, but the space and lack of build density really hits you, even where it looks dense from the sales office, when you actually get in amongst it, there is just so much space, the “Laurel” style apartments look great and some have fantastic views, those without golf course views (not too many) all overlook fabulous pools and wide open communal gardens, or look towards the mountains, very nice indeed.

The photos speak for themselves, you do not want us to go on and on, we are obviously aware of everybody’s favourite “moan forum” and we are also aware of everybody’s concerns which we are understand are very valid and we really do sympathise, we try our best to brighten up your day with as positive news as possible, there really is nothing negative I can or want to say about Corvera, we can not blame the developer for the economy or the recession, yes there are delays and yes mortgages are harder to get, no question about it, but as far as we can see, Corvera Golf and Country Club is going to be fantastic and we feel despite the considerable delays, Calidona are going to deliver one fantastic resort.

The town of Corvera is growing as we all expected with new properties being built, some new shops, a couple of extra bars, and we have already tried out two brand new typically Spanish tapas restaurants, very nice indeed, most importantly very inexpensive!

Finally, with a lot of owners at Corvera due to “complete” their purchase in the near future, we are getting contacted a lot about property management, mortgages, furniture requirements, rentals, etc. Our main sponsors are Calida International Properties and they will be very happy to answer all of your questions, and indeed help with any aspect of the completion process for your property at Corvera Golf and Country Club, please contact them at info@calidainternationalproperties.com or go to their web site at www.calidainternationalproperties.co.uk or continue to write in to us and we will pass on your enquiry.

We hope you enjoy this latest instalment, good luck everybody and we will be back in March, keep the faith there is a lot to be excited about!!

Corvera Golf and Country Club – December 2008 visit

    December 19th, 2008

Welcome to our last update on Corvera Golf and Country Club for 2008 and may I begin by saying seasons greetings to you all and I hope you all have a fantastic holiday season and a very merry Christmas.

Thank you very much for all the very positive comments about our new information web site and please keep them coming, it is the only way that we know that you like what we are doing.

There is a lot of negative press about at the moment, it is almost as if the world has gone mad, like everybody else we at corveragolfinfo are concerned with the state of the world economy and all the gloomy news about unemployment and the banking crisis. However I hope that these latest photos with descriptions as well as this latest update, helps to cheer you up just a little bit over the festive season.

On to Corvera Golf and Country, WOW, and WOW again, absolutely fantastic, I can not believe the progress since our last visit, thousands of trees have been added to the golf course, but also either side of the roads throughout the whole resort, there was a water lorry moving around the resort watering all the new trees, just a couple of years from now we will have beautiful tree lined avenues everywhere.

All of the “tee boxes” have now been marked out and there are six on every hole, just like the model in the sales office, they actually look like “crop circles” I have tried my best to give you a feel for the properties and the resort generally from the golf course side, hopefully you can get a feel for the sheer scale of the golf course and the development generally from the photos I have taken. There are nearly one hundred photos with comprehensive descriptions on most, please have a close look at the photos, I am sure you will be able to see your property here somewhere!

I have spent a lot of time on the South island this time – that is the lowest part of the development down to the left of the resort as you look from the sales office. We have had a lot of requests for photos of this area to show the Canela Villa’s and the Magnolia Villa’s, I am pleased to report that there is huge progress in this area, the views are just amazing as even though this is the lowest part of the resort, the properties are located on natural hills and all have great views.

The golf course has been completed in this area. It needs grass of course, and that will happen in the Spring. It was difficult not to get too excited over here! The properties in the South island all have good views of the golf course, but off to the West are the mountains, where there will be the most incredible sunsets, great for hiking as well, but not in high season please, too hot!

Some of the roads have been tarmacked; most pavements have been completed, and a number of the swimming pools have been constructed or excavated since our last visit, some of the detached villas also have their swimming pools in – lucky people.

One very exciting development for me was the water feature, or stream, that is running through the resort, it has been constructed to the highest standard with a concrete base and then a fabulous dry wall up to the level of the golf course, I think this will be marked by “red markers” for all you golfers out there. I have included some photos of this feature, I hope I have captured it properly as it looks great, forgive me, just getting a bit excited again.

The main, and only, entrance in looks great, another fabulous feature is the lovely dry stone walls either side of the road, as you come up over the hill and down in to the resort with the mountain in the background is nothing short of breathtaking, it is going to be impressive for sure, no question about it.

The properties on phase 1 in the North island have roads, swimming pools and a lot of the properties have been painted and they look great, some of the front line apartments in this location have tremendous views in every direction, and it is quite a high part of the resort and located quite close to the clubhouse with views of the 1st tee, good spot.

There are some fabulous areas for walking and sightseeing, particularly up towards the area for the hotel and clubhouse, almost a sense of being out in the wilderness and yet still on the luxury 5 star Corvera Golf and Country Club, it is these walks that I am looking forward to, that and this fabulous championship golf course. I would like to report that I took my seven iron out of the bag and hit a couple of balls and what brilliant shots they were, well that is my version anyway and I am sticking to it, even without grass, you can really see that this golf course is going to be a stern test, but with the PGA academy on site there will be no excuses!

I hope you enjoy these latest photos and update, don’t forget to read the descriptions that accompany most photos, I really hope you all get to spot your property, and I also hope you feel just a little more positive about this fabulous resort, we will be back as soon as we can with some new ones and another update, please leave your comments and also send in any requests, we are always happy to help. We must also mention Calida International Properties, who make this website possible, and who provide professional property management services for you owners out there. Once again a very very merry Christmas and a happy and healthy 2009 and to you all.

José María Olazábal visits Corvera Golf & Country Club

    October 10th, 2008

    José María Olazábal visits Corvera!
    José María Olazábal visits Corvera!

Jose Maria Olazabal’s golf course design activity has been intense for years, with more than ten courses already designed throughout Spain, including the Real Golf Club in Seville, the Costa Ballena in Cadiz and La Sella in Alicante.

José María Olazábal is one of the most active players on the International Golf Circuit and has an excellent track record, including two Masters, four Ryder Cups and twenty-two victories on the European Circuit! This July he made a private visit to Corvera Golf and Country Club, in Murcia. He was there to oversee work on the new golf course he has designed together with his company Integral Golf Design.

From eight until noon, he toured the 18 holes of the course currently under construction, to review the progress of the work and suggest improvements, particularly with regard to the provision of tees, bunkers and greens. The Fuenterrabia (location guide) player was highly satisfied with the work carried out to date and with the great potential of the course, which occupies seventy hectares and measures over 6,700 metres from the professional tees.

Owing to the partnership of Corvera Golf & Country Club and its parent company, Calidona, with the European PGAs (Corvera has been designated the future winter headquarters of this prestigious institution) and the quality of the course itself, Olazábal stated after his visit that Corvera Golf course would, without a doubt, host a European Tour tournament in the near future.

The work is expected to continue throughout the coming months, with sowing planned for next Spring, so that the new golf course will be ready to open towards the end of 2009!

Antonio López, manager of Corvera Golf & Country Club, commented that “Olazábal’s visit has been an important event in the development of the project, confirming the high expectations placed on the golf course and the impact of this great player’s involvement in his design work”. López added that, “to accompany Chema for 5 hours on the course, noting his many suggestions for improvement, and sharing with him his impressive knowledge of the sport, has been an extraordinary experience for everyone”.
